The St. Michael Catholic School's robotics team is headed to "States" in February
The First Lego League regional qualifier was held at the Southeastern Institute for Manufacturing and Technology in Florence on Saturday. Saint Michael Catholic School is the only school in South Carolina to have six teams compete for States! Five of our teams have qualified for the State Tournament in Irmo, SC on February 25, 2012. QuickSilver FLL took 1st place in “Research” and 2nd place in “Robot Performance”. Food Fighers won 2nd place in “Teamwork”. Team “Hunters” placed 6th in their “Robot Performance” and was only 11 points away from the first place team. According to Jack Roach, the tournament director, our junior robotics teams in grades 2-3 presented their projects very well. They were able to grasp incredibly complex concepts and seemed very knowledgeable. All three junior teams were invited to the State Tournament. Each JrFLL team member received a medal for their outstanding work.
All teams showed professionalism and good sportsmanship, and represented our school well. Great work! Good luck at states! On behalf of St. Michael Catholic School, thanks to Mrs. Myres, and all the parents and coaches who contributed to our teams success.Look for more information regarding the state tournament in Columbia on February 25.
