The child is to write the spelling words on index cards.
The child is to draw a picture of the word on the back of the index card.
The child is to write the word.
The child is to spell the word. They can do this either orally or they can write it down.
This homework is to prepare them for their “test” on Friday. It helps reinforce that letters have sounds and that when you put sounds together, it makes words. I do not grade their “tests”. I only point out the words they have spelled correctly. It is all to build their confidence, so when they go to first grade, spelling tests will be old hat to them, and not intimidate.
