- September – Carowinds Science Myth Buster Campout
- October – Catholic Camporee…Camping with our new Bishop and hundreds of other scouts
- November – Sleep with the Sharks at Ripley’s
- January 2010 = Cookie Campout…learn how to sell cookies like a pro, eat cookies & hot chocolate late into the night…only Girl Scouts selling cookies can attend…girls are welcome to come for the evening 6-10 pm and leave to sleep at home
- February 2010 = Troop Slumber Party…Sleep at the Girl Scout Lodge and roast marshmallows over a five foot wide stone fireplace.
- June 2010 – Travel to Savannah, GA where Girl Scouting began
- Several cool camping trips are offered through our Girl Scout Council
- Our council has several fun camping trips during the year to Science museums and state parks.
Chaperones:
- Adults who are registered with the Girl Scouts & have had Virtus training are eligible to chaperone camping trips. Dads are welcome. It just takes more advance planning to provide separate sleeping and bathroom arrangements.
- All Girl Scouts, even the Daisies, can go camping with the troop.
- Parents know their children. If your Girl Scout has never spent the night away from home without her family, then you probably shouldn’t send her camping alone.
All campers need
- Sleeping bags or bedrolls
- A fanny pack or fishing vest for hikes & field trips with the following contents
- A small flashlight
- A whistle to alert others if lost or hurt
- Gloves
- Phone number of event leader and parent/guardian
