The Morning Drop-off Procedure:
The road in front of Duffy Center is one-way, and one lane only. Drivers using this lane must stay in single file, and not get out of the car. Children should exit from the right side of the vehicle so they do not have to cross the road. If you need to get out of the car to help your child, or want to walk them into the school, please park in the parking lot and walk your child into the building. There is no parking allowed in front of Duffy Center while school is in session. During recess, the road in front of Duffy Center is closed.
The Procedure for Afternoon Pick-Up:
Drivers should not be on cell phones while moving through the dismissal line. In an effort to keep your children as safe as possible, and to not tie up traffic, dismissal has been revised. Please form a single-file line of cars. Students in PK4 and K will dismiss at 2:15 from the McCaffrey Center side of the building. Students in Grades 1-3 will also dismiss from the McCaffrey Center side of the building beginning at 2:30 p.m. Students in Grades 4-8 will dismiss from the Duffy Center side of the building at 2:30 p.m. Students will be gathered in “family” groups and will be with the youngest sibling. (For example: if John is in 6th grade and Sarah is in 1st grade, John will walk down to Sarah’s line so that he can be picked-up with his sister. Their parent(s) will wait for them in the pick-up line at the McCaffrey Center side of the building.)
Please place a placard with your family name, student’s name(s) and grade(s) in your window until we become familiar with your vehicle. Please stay in your car and pull through the pick-up line quickly. Children will not be released to the parents who walk up to the line unless you obtain prior permission from the principal. Students who have not been picked up during our normal dismissal time will be checked into the After-School Enrichment Program so that no child remains unsupervised while on campus. (Students not pre-registered for this program will be subject to the daily drop-in rate of $25.)
Rainy Day Dismissal: The same driving routes are involved. Staff members with umbrellas will walk students to the cars.
NOTE: As a courtesy to other parents, please do not use this time to speak with a teacher about important school matters, communicate special instructions, or discuss your child’s performance. Teachers are busy making sure students are getting home quickly and safely. Teachers will gladly schedule an appointment at a more convenient time when they can give you their full attention. Please use email or hand-written notes to communicate any special instructions.
Thank you for your compliance. These procedures must be adhered to in order for us to keep this privilege.
