The Blessing of the Field, Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008

St. Michael Catholic School PTO hosted the “Blessing of the Field” in celebration of our new baseball field, Gator Field. We had a great day! The event was very well-attended by faculty, students, PTO, parents, parish and surrounding community. We’d like to thank the following people who made this event a success:

A very special thank you goes to Julie Borshak from the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Eric Long from the Youth Diamond Fund. We would also like to thank Tom Gardiner from the Youth Diamond Fund for throwing out the first pitch. We appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules to attend this special event. We’d also like to thank Mark Utley and his crew for building our field.

Ms. Jeri will be using the field for gym. We are also considering adding baseball to the after school program. Ms. Jeri is considering putting a team together (coaches needed) and inviting other schools to play on our field. The parish will also be using the field. Anyone interested in scheduling an event on the field should speak with Nancy Esposito in the school office. As we grow, we will be adding improvements to the field. We have a few “GATOR FIELD” commemorative baseballs left. Each ball is $5. Please see a PTO officer, Debbie Floyd or Nancy Esposito in our school office to purchase a ball. Limited quantities available. PLEASE NOTE: Even though the balls are leather and regulation size, they are for decorative use only.
