Newsletter 7th and 8th grades

I am pleased to inform you that the students have shown a continuous improvement over this school year; there has been great effort and motivation to achieve and maintain good grades in Spanish this quarter especially! This year we have worked on various activities using the Spanish Text Book “Pasa A Paso”. Furthermore, I subscribed to an educational Spanish Magazine, which is filled with reading, listening, raeding/listening comprehension, and vocabulary activities. A new magazine is sent monthly. I have heard excellent reports from the students about the magazine! We continue to use instructional sites on the internet to practice grammar and to enrich thier Spanish vocabulary. One of the activities the students enjoy the most is Spanish Charades! The students are split up into two teams competeing against one another. They are either given words in English in which they have to translate in writing to Spanish, or they are given words in Spanish in which they have to act out in front of the class. We also make phone calls to selected buisneses in various Spanish speaking countries. The call is placed on speaker phone and the students can ask questions and converse with Native Spanish speakers. My goal is to familiarize the students with the various accents within the many Spanish Speaking countries. I have designed my class to not only teach the Spanish language, but to educate the kids about various Spanish cultures, including foods, dances, clothing, and traditions.
