St. Michael’s Catholic students get ready show off their Lego robots to parents and grandparents at the Surfside Beach Library Tuesday.
SURFSIDE BEACH-Building cool robots with Lego is how some students from Saint Michael’s Catholic School got to have fun with learning math Tuesday night at the Surfside Beach Library.
The students are broken down into three teams. The teams are part of an International Lego League and will be competing with thousands of other teams across the state in about a month.
Their coach Kyle Myres who is preparing the three teams said that it’s a way of making her students realize their appreciation for technology math and science.
“We have kids who struggle on math but they do great on the robotics team and so it gives them more confidence there that yeah I can do this—-this is cool and they learn to program computers we use computers to program these robots and it’s not an easy program.”
The students already won the regional competiton and now will be involved at the state competition March 6th at Clemson University.
