Ø      At least 30 minutes a week all students should access www.progressinmathematics.com to use the Math Minutes to practice their basic skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Lang. Arts Book Reports         


Ø      Journal and book report assignments are online under  Classrooms|Teachers.


Ø      Book reports should be answered in complete sentences and in paragraph form on the forms provided.  Additional copies are on the school website.


Ø      If students check out these books from the library, they should plan to use them for at least the first two weeks of school.

Supplies for 2010 – 2011


Please replenish all supplies throughout the year so that your child is prepared for class every day.


 


These supplies must be turned into the home room teacher on the first day of school




Ø      2 rolls of paper towels


Ø      1 box of tissues


Ø      1 Hand sanitizer


Ø      1 Clorox Wipes


Ø      1 box 24 ct. wood #2 pencils


Ø      1 pkg. Red pens


Ø      2 large pink erasers


Ø      1 Poster board – Any Color


Ø      An umbrella marked with your last name




 


 





All students should bring to class every day


Ø      A pencil pouch or box that can be carried in the backpack or binder with the following contents.







Ø      An assignment planner is provided by the school each year.


Ø      1 Thumb drive to store documents


Ø      Loose-leaf paper…at least 100 sheets


Ø      1 bound composition book – Science


Ø      1 2-inch binder (a zipper closure is optional)


Ø      7-dividers for binder


Ø      7 folders with pockets & brads plus 7 matching spiral notebooks:







·        Do not get a spiral for Math.  SMCS has graphing paper spirals that we will use for Math


·        Folders and spiral covers must be at least 75% the color noted by each subject.


 


In addition, students will need the following grade specific supplies.


Grade 6


Ø      1 bound composition book – Religion


Ø      1 bound composition book – Math (can use the same one as grade 5 Math)


Grade 7


Ø      1 new bound composition book – Math (Must be new)


Ø      Yellow 5 subject spiral instead of single subject spiral – Religion


Grade 8


Ø      1 bound composition book – Math (can use the same one as grade 7 Math)


Ø      Yellow 5 subject spiral instead of single subject spiral – Religion


 


The following supplies should be kept at home so that your student can complete their homework correctly and efficiently. 



Ø      A dictionary


Ø      White loose-leaf paper


Ø      5 or more pencils


Ø      3×5” index cards to make notes for tests


Ø      a six pocket expanding file to organize chapter tests for final exams


Ø      Protractor & ruler – metric & inches


Ø      Scientific Calculator (approximately $10)


Ø      Examples: Ativa™ AT-30i, Texas Instruments® TI-30Xa, Casio® fx-260, Sharp® EL-531WBBL


Ø      Please do not get Graphing calculators. You should wait until high school to purchase one, since most schools specify which to buy. In addition, the technology is better each year.
